Guitarist/composer Jonathan Kreisberg has been hailed by critics and fellow musicians as a major voice of the new generation. He will perform music from ‘The South of Everywhere’ (Mel Bay Records) and ‘Night Songs’ (Criss Cross Jazz) as well as new material that displays what Belgian Jazz Radio called “not only a revelation, but a shock”. The band will also feature some of the finest young voices in the jazz world today with Will Vinson (alto sax), Mark Ferber (drums) and Euan Burton (bass).

Top jazz vocalist Niki King is set to honour Billie Holiday on the 50th anniversary of her death.
Holiday had a deeply troubled life and died of cirrhosis, aged just 44, in 1959. But she was credited with changing jazz and pop singing forever, thanks to her individual approach to wording and tempo.
Niki has set up her current tour project to celebrate the artist’s early work. She added, “I have always loved Billie Holiday. To me she is an inspiring singer who commands attention through her natural voice, delivery and musicianship."

One of Britain's finest drummers, Alyn Cosker launches his brand new album, "That's the Ticket" on Linn Records. His trio features the fantastic Ross Hamilton (bass) and David Dunsmuir (gtr) and they are joined tonight by special guest, Tommy Smith.
Perhaps Joe Locke best summed up Alyn's talent when he said, "Alyn Cosker represents the best of the new generation of drummers currently on the scene. He has the intellect to negotiate very difficult music, while at the same time maintaining an organic "earthiness" in his playing. I have called him to tour with my quartet, 4 Walls of Freedom, and would do so again without reservation. He's smokin'!"

The Johnny Mercer Centenary Concert will take place at the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow with a fantastic line up featuring Carol Kidd, Clare Teal, Laurie Holloway, Todd Gordon and very special guest, Sir Michael Parkinson.
Many of the finest lyrics ever written were penned by Mercer, including That Old Black Magic, The
Summer Wind, Too Marvelous for Words, I Wanna be Around, Blues in the Night, Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive, When the World was Young, Dream, I Remember You, Moon River and One for My Baby.
Johnny Mercer is Sir Michael Parkinson's favourite lyricist and we are delighted that he has agreed to join us to celebrate the enormous contribution Mercer has made to classic popular song - as a songwriter, singer and co-founder of Capitol Records (one of the most successful labels of all time). Most importantly, this event pays tribute to Mercer's supreme skill as an evocative lyricist.
Through his Scots ancestry – which can be traced back to the Battle of Culloden – Johnny Mercer represents the only legitimate Scottish connection to American Songbook royalty, an especially relevant connection in this, the year of Homecoming Scotland.
For all lovers of classic popular song, this is a unique and unmissable event.

Highly recommended! Australian singer and pianist, Janet Seidel makes her Glasgow debut with a heartfelt tribute to the late Blossom Dearie. Songs include Surrey with the Fringe on Top, Hey John, Comment Allez-vous?, Bruce, I’m Hip, My Gentleman Friend and Peel Me a Grape.
With her intimate style, great feel for the lyrics of songs she sings, Seidel is one of those vocalists who is as much a story teller as she is a singer.
“Someone should send singer/pianist Janet Seidel flowers for her delicate and engaging tribute to a truly eccentric music talent, the ageless Blossom Dearie. She takes a representative sample from her catalogue and sings with a touch of the breathy finesse that characterises a Dearie song.” - Adelaide Advertiser
